FletchSan Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 I've been admiring both of these Ebay listings as they are local to me - though I know nothing about Japanese Armour. Given the discussions about fakes as well - I thought I'd seek opinions. Are they genuine - and are they fairly priced or overpriced for what they are? cheers, Ben http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ANTIQUE-Japanese-EDO-PERIOD-SAMURAI-ARMOR-BOX-KABUTO-/122467981001?hash=item1c83a916c9:g:pXoAAOSwzgBY4Ywk http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ANTIQUE-Japanese-EDO-PERIOD-SAMURAI-ARMOR-ARMOUR-KABUTO-/122467981002?hash=item1c83a916ca:g:tWoAAOSw3utY4YrL Quote
uwe Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 Hi Ben, had a quick look at my iPhone. Both quite simple and damaged. The second one seems put together, whereas the first appears to be an lent armor (okashi gusoku). Quote
DaveT Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 These are both rough mis-matched armours. Uwe you overlooked the horrible attempt to completely replace the koshimaki inside the momonari on armour one. Ben, both of these armours have rotted odoshi and damaged urushi, you would pick up something better on yahoo auctions via a bidding service like From Japan, JAUCE or Samurai Kyobai. If you see anything else that you need a second opinion off please feel free to PM me, ill be happy to help point you in the right direction. Quote
FletchSan Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 Thanks. I've sent you a PM Dave. Cheers, Ben 1 Quote
