Owari Sukashi Tsuba

This tsuba is most likely from the early to mid Edo period. It is an excellent example of Edo period Owari work.

The design is a little busy, made up of a mon, a large snow flake, clouds and a udenuki ana. The iron on this tsuba is wonderful with a beautiful warm tone typical of Owari work. The melted finish is glassy and smooth. There are also clear lamination's visible in the nakago ana showing the layer construction of this guard.

This is really good iron and a great study piece for those getting serious about their iron tsuba.

Hi

I am interested in the Tsuba. Are you located in the US ? Also , just curious why you refer to it as a study piece. Thanks Gary G

I'm in the UK. It's a good study piece due to the high quality iron and visible laminations.
