I am trying to translate the kanji on a flag.

So far I have

?

Shō

Ka

Dai

myō

jin

Can anyone determine the first three kanji and what is the flag saying?

Who would fly this flag?

Thanks

Dear SteveM

Thanks, interesting reading.

It's a flag flown outside of a shrine. This flag says 瓢箪山稲荷大明神 Hyōtanyama Inari Daimyōjin, the name of one of the Shintō gods.

Presumably it would have flown outside of the shrine of the same name in Ōsaka.
