benkyoka Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 I was recently given a katana that was being used for tameshigiri. It is only 10 years old or so and if I can read the mei correctly it was made by Masanao. Is this correct? Could anyone provide some information on this smith. I tried googling Sekiju Masanao, but didn't come up with a lot of information. Also, to my inexperienced eye, the boshi looks to be midare-komi. Is this a good guess? I included a pic of the hamon as well. Can post more pics if the members here would like to see them. Quote
Nobody Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 I do not know if this is your Masanao or not, but there is one Masanao on the list below. His real name is Nakata Katsuro (中田勝郎) living in Seki. http://www.tousyoukai.jp/english/member_e.shtml http://www.n-p-s.net/tohsho.htm Quote
