Rich T Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 Koichi san came up with the following, it is the reading on a tsuba I have. Does anyone know the origin of this ?. I see it has a lot of use after the Meiji Restoration and in WW2 for Kamikaze pilots. But I assume it is older than that ?. The philosophy is based on Confucianism and rationalizes the superiority of the sovereign. "“hi†is not superior to “riâ€. “ri†is not superior to “hoâ€. “ho†is not superior to “gonâ€. “gon†is not superior to “tenâ€. 非 (hi) – fault 理 (ri) – reason 法 (hô) – law 権 (gon) – authority 天 (ten) – God’s truth Cheers Rich Quote
