Drago Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Hi guys, as I am currently in the process of restoring my Type 3, I will soon be faced with the challenge of how to mount the ashi - or going with a kurikata... On a gunto (haikan) or a tachi (ashi) how were those mounted without scratching the paint/lacquer? And how were they made to fit (touching everywhere)? If anyone knows, I'd be really grateful. If there were pictures or video, even better. Thank you. Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 When mounting the ashi :Thin paper inside ashi preventing the scratching. Remove paper. I have used some leather ,fit in size and thickness and ashi is fitting tight. Quote
Drago Posted October 5, 2015 Author Report Posted October 5, 2015 But if you want a tight fitting ashi, won't the thin paper rip while mounting? And if the paper is too thik the ashi will not stay in place... Quote
