Need help with inherited sword and mei. It just doesnt look right to me. possibly a gimei blade.

No file marks on tang. Rough shaped tang with flat cut off end. also only one mekugi-ana.

30 inch blade. In shira saya storage mounts. It is a "tachi style blade". Suguha hamon pattern.

I just really would like to figure out the authenticity of this blade.

Thanks in advance for any help on this,

James.

The only Kanji I have possibly been able to read are,

Yamato 大和

birthplace maybe

created or made by

I Tried haha.

Not sure if this one is better. The mounting is what it was in when my grandfather obtained it. It was painted a green camo then. He said he got it off of a Japanese officer when he was in the Philippines the last year of the war.

Yamato no Kuni-jûnin Kanenaga saku (大和国住人包永作). Very big name, signature very different from that big name...

So more than likely gimei being labeled a kanenaga. so now its just trying to figure out when it was made if I know its not a 1000 year old blade. That is the hard part right.

Thank you for the translation help.
