ARE you saying that those who choose to collect high end dress swords are amateurs???

im inclined to start a internet argument, over that statement and with no possible hope of winning most likely :rotfl:  :rotfl: :rotfl:

I collect them,  and considering that they were still carried as part of the uniform for also 70 years as part of IJA and Navy. I would say good historical value.

and don't forget all those who collect german WW1 sword !

Well, even for sport, I would not think our benevolent founder and moderators would appreciate a flamewar on the NMB.

Please forgive my Gallic tongue: I meant enthusiasts, which is one of the meanings of amateur in French.

Did you buy the sword or are you an AMATEUR ebayer? :glee: :glee: :glee:

The scabbard was in an average condition, but the rest of the sword was clean and the sword knot was impeccable.

By the way, apart from the pictures in Dawson's book, I have never seen a full-size general officer kyu gunto. I guess they are extremely rare.

sadly the knot when you look closely it was frayed mid way. bumer

the swords was nice, but the best part was the undamaged wire binding on the handle. its easily damaged so when found in good condition it tends to push the price up

all in all a nice piece, just if the aussie doller was stronger.

that aside heres another rare dress sword on fleabay, just for interest

this sword is now on a sellers site for double the last selling price.

salmon127 is the seller. does anyone know him?

Im abit pissed over this type of behaviour, (I was the under bidder) so abit sour prob too

I feel this type of dealer is only but pushing sword collecting closer to the edge, there is already a huge reduction in newcomers due to the sharp increase in price's for no reason,

with the heaps of stock on the market and poor economic's world wide, shouldn't the price be lowering to induce spending
