Michel D Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 Hello I recently got the full set of Haynes auction catalogues. In my opinion, it is a huge amount of reliable information. However, how to go directly and fast to something you are looking for? Actually, I was wondering if a courageous person had already made any listing or data base ( as one can find for the NBTHK issues or the big book on the Boston MFA ) to look up a piece. My priority being tsuba, I won't shrug off any "tsuba only" section! :D...Unless you wait for my burden!!! Quote
Curran Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 There is no guide of which I am aware. The Haynes catalogs are a good reference with everything in english and lots of photos, but remember that it is a sales catalog just like a Christies catalog. Quote
Michel D Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 Hi Curran Thank you for your answer. So, I have my work cut out for me! I found these catalogues valuable given the consistency of description by the same person. I am not attached to "very valuable piece", "very rare" and other selling points..Totally agree with you! But for instance "typical hitsuana from Umetada shool" or "usual mimi for this school" etc...with relevant photos are -at the least for my limited knowledge -very informative if not educational.Of course, I have other books and am looking forward the release of "Tsuba, An Aesthetic Study" reprinted by NCJSC.
