OPTITRADER66 Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Any help on translation on this sword will be greatly appriciated. The sword was brought back from WWII by my grandfather and given to me in 1960 . It also has a hand written name under the leather on the wood part of scabbard. It's not for sale. Thanks, Darrell Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Last two characters (the smiths name) is Kunishige. The leading characters will need to come from someone else. Quote
John A Stuart Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hi Guy, For sale purposes perhaps. Ikeda Kishinmaru Kunishige, Tennajidai, Settsu. John Quote
Veli Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 池田鬼神丸國重 Ikeda Kijinmaru Kunishige; in my opinion, unfortunately, it does not look like a genuine signature. BR, Veli Quote
John A Stuart Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 鬼神 This is pronounced kishin, or onigami. John Quote
Veli Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 You are right about pronouncing "fierce god", I think. I posted my reply before I saw yours, like often happens. Veli Quote
