Peter Churchman Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 I have a saya with inscription on it and am seeing if anyone out there was able to interpret it. Usually they are either the details of the sword maker or receiver. I have the wakizashi that accompanies the saya (needs work), it is unsigned but fits the saya and with the matching tsuka, the mekugi hole placement marrys up. Attached is the pic of the saya. Any info this and also the blade itself would be greatly appreciated. Quote
mdiddy Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Hello, The second part of the saya looks to say 'Mihara Masaiye Saku'. Matt Edit: Chris gave you the top half of the sayagaki (date) on your other link Quote
Ask Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I think the top part reads eiwa San nen. Similar to Showa etc a period, mid to late 1300's. ( but I've been wrong before :-) ). Quote
