cisco-san Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Hello, I would kindly ask to correct or to confirm my translation. My reading is Kanekage 兼景 even I am unsure about the "kage 景". I am missing at least one horizontal stroke Many thanks in advance Klaus edit: typo Quote
1tallsword Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 the Mei reads KaneKage to me. are you referring to the horizontal stroke at the top of Kane?? if so there were mei signed with two vertical and one horizontal as i understand it, the Kage looks fine as i see it? what part do you think is missing in Kage? maybe another member with more experience than I will tune in for you Quote
cisco-san Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Sorry for unexact description. What I meant is, that on the "Kage" on the mei one horizontal stroke is too much. 景 here you can see only one stroke in the middle of the rectangle and on the mei you can see two horizontal strokes!? But maybe I am running into a one-way street Quote
Markus Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 @Klaus: The mei is ok because when writing the character "kage", you can extend the upper box radical down to the central horizontal stroke and replace the "dot" of the radical (亠) by a second smaller horizontal stroke. This results quasi in the radical (且). Quote
cisco-san Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Dear Markus, many thanks for clarification!!! best regards Klaus Quote
Rivkin Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 I would very much appreciate seeing the entire sword. I have a waki with very similar Kanekage which is signed with Mimasaka, but looks very koto-ish. From papers it looks like these get papered to either Tensho, Kanbun or Genroku generations depending on how the blade looks like.... Quote
cisco-san Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 For me it was just a translation exercise - I have no intention to buy it. Here you can find more pic: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221301832463?ru ... 26_rdc%3D1 Quote
