Stephen Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Forgeing aournd at a Military show yesterday came across a Sadamitsu, really should have taken a shot of the mei...showa ju hachi, did not take a glass but possible very small stamp, it will be at the gun show in Nov so ill take pixthen. Sada is very tall and at first glance it look like Kane, sure its not a Gassan as it was signged just Sadamitsu...any one have info on this guy? Larry Klahn was there which was a nice surprise, seeing half a dozen Nihonto on a table I was saying wow Nihonto at last!! Larry said look up as I was intent on looking at the swords and not knowing it was him. Wide range of swords from $950 to 12K..fantastic Bizen Shinshinto blade, and this case. Small world as the bottom left F/K was once owned by me, and he got them off someone at a Military show...PM me for his email address if see any thing interesting. He should be in for sale section years past if you want to search. Quote
Stephen Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Guess i should have take time to take a pix, maybe later we can find out who this Sadamitsu is. Quote
Lance Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 There aren't any oshigata images for the smiths listed, but Fuller & Gregory's Swordsmiths of Japan 1926-1945 has 3 Sadamitsu listed, (see pic below) Nara (I think Gassan school?) Saga (different character, looks like the one usually seen in Sukesada) Settsu ( lists working date, 1926) Below' is a discussion about a sword signed Sadaharu that mentions Settsu, maybe there's a connection? http://www.nihontomessageboard.com/nmb/ ... 50&t=16475 From SwordGuyJoe:Tough smith to find! All I was able to find is a modern day smith in Marcus' e-Index. It says he is from Osaka, lists a few mei different than your friends: "Settsu Moriguchi-ju Kawai Minamoto Sadaharu" and "Settsu-ju Sadaharu Saku". His given name is Kawai Kenji. Not sure if he is your guy or not. included an inmage of the Sadaharu mei from the other post, maybe this will be of some use once you see the sword again. Regards, Lance Quote
Stephen Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Thanks Lance this is the type of sada, much taller and less strokes. The fellow who has it runs a add in the local paper ill try to set up a meeting and get some pix, and to see if it does have a stamp. Thanks for the input. Quote

SwordGuyJoe Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I actually saw Larry a few weeks back at the STP show. That shin-shinto blade was really quite nice. I am not so sure on his $12K price though. Nice, but... Quote
