sigking Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 This is the one that had the cloth tag on it. James Quote
sigking Posted April 14, 2013 Author Report Posted April 14, 2013 same number that is on bottom of blade ideas? Thanks, James Quote
Mark Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 numbers like that are usually used for swords made in a factory to keep the blade and parts from getting switched Quote
Grey Doffin Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 Does that say Masamune? If so it is an older blade, most likely a gimei of Soshu Masamune. Grey Quote
cabowen Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 The blade shown in the top few photos appears to be a typical Seki showa-to. One wonders if the nakago with the gimei Masamune mei at the bottom is from the same sword. If it is, then it is not old, just a gimei on a showa-to..... Quote
sigking Posted April 14, 2013 Author Report Posted April 14, 2013 two different swords......somehow I posted on same post. James Quote
cabowen Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 That's what I thought.....Top sword is WWII era Seki showa-to. Bottom sword is as Grey said, older. Gimei Masamune. Quote
