cabowen Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 I have heard that Ogawa Kanekuni senior, has passed away. He was a Gifu Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property. He achieved considerable fame with his Sukehiro o-doran copies. He was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho. His son continues the tradition. He will be greatly missed. Quote
george trotter Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 Yes, sad news. Another participant in the most important 20 years in sword history since 1600 is gone. Thanks for posting. Regards, Quote
eternal_newbie Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 A sad day indeed. His career has been one of the more interesting among the modern smiths. There is a good write-up about him and his son (now also Mukansa) in The New Generation of Japanese Swordsmiths. Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 R.I.P. Two questions , what will this mean for the value and interest of his works? Can he become NT after His dead? Quote
