  1. I have this sword that i traded for a few years ago. The previous owner stated this sword was worth $8500.00. i am trying to get a fair price or trade for WWII mounted blades. I am new to posting on this site.

      Distinctive feature: This piece is attributed as Horii Taneyoshi. Taneyoshi was born in late Edo period, Bunsei 4th year (1821) at Oumi country (Now Shiga prefecture, west side of Japan.). His original name is Ishiyama Yoshifumi and later on change his name to Taneyoshi. He has learnt the forging technique from Sadayoshi and Naotane. In Meiji 28th1895 year, he has become a personal smith of the Imperial Household Ministry. He has passed away in Meiji 36th1903 year April 29th at age of eighty-three.

      Horii Tane Yoshi period Shin Shinto (ca. 1868) Horii Tane Yoshi comes from Omi, and was a student in the Gassan school, learning under the Shin Shinto smith Gassan Sadayoshi. Later in his career he studied under Taikei Naotane, then in 1895 he was ordered to become Kunaisho Goyo Tosho (Swordsmith to the Ministry of the Imperial Household), a high post that shows respect for his skill. He died at the age of 83 in 1903.
