  1. @Rawa thanks. I’ve seen these a few years back when I got the sword and was researching the smith.
  2. @Rawa the sword I have is different than this example. The sword I own looks more like this
  3. @Rawa no not that sword. That appears to be a Ikubi kissaki.
  4. @Kiipu I like it too. I was rather surprised when I got a chance to really take a look at it. Kinda reminds me of horse tooth hamon in some areas.
  5. Type 98 tsuba off of a Nidai Yoshichika with Hakudo cutting test. Wondering if it’s a name or assembly numbers. Any help would help. Thank you.
  6. @Conway S Showa 19 (1944) my mistake
  7. Appreciate it @John C.
  8. Kore Saku? I took the translation from the Japanese swordsmith index
  9. Just want to share.. I took a gamble and picked up this sword a few months ago from the son of a WW2 veteran practically sight unseen. The vets son told me the sword has sat in the closet since he could remember. The sword is signed 士魂明督之作 Shigon Akisuke No Saku and dated 1945. A smith I’ve never heard of before nor have I seen another sword made by this smith. The polish and fittings are in excellent condition. The hamon is flamboyant the jigane is tight. any comments are welcome.
  10. Another interesting sword at the Nihontocraft website. Kotani Takenori (Yasunori) Yasukuni Shrine Tosho Special Order at the request of Vice Admiral Jinichi Kusaka, Commander of the 11th Air Fleet and Commander of the Southeast Area Fleet. October, 1942 https://nihontocraft.com/Takenori_Yasunori_Tachi.html

    Konuka hada?

I absolutely meant Choji midare. Sorry, typing too fast on my phone. Like I said earlier I believe the sword is in a war time polish that doesn’t help distinguishing the features of the sword.

    Konuka hada?

    Konuka hada?

I’m assuming it’s a war time polish. Blade is in type 98 shin gunto koshirae. Hamon is chogi midare.
