  1. Yes, there is a NTHK papered Muramasa nidai tanto on "ricecracker.com" But there might be a reason, why this tanto was sold not for 17000 but for much less, just for a fraction, in the past at "nihonto.us" You still can find the description: http://nihonto.us/MURAMASA TANTO - NIDAI.htm Best
  2. Hi, is the samonji book still up for grab? Written in English?! Best
  3. But I have only now realized that Prof. Arnold has already written this in 2018 - I was misled by the fact that I was looking for the topic "Muramasa", and that the most recent link was ;( Anyway, maybe someone can help me with my question about the article Best
  4. Dear all, I am sorry, I didn't expect that a discussion is started from an collector passed away My question about the nakago and the article was just a informational one, nothing else Best
  5. Dear Prof. Arnold, thanks for your post. Do you have an idea where I can find the Nanka Token Kai, vol. 5, nr. 1 (Januar 1986)? I would be interested in the nakago shown there - especially those concerning "Muramasa". Best
  6. Concerning the "interest": I "tried" to buy this blade some months ago as a gimei blade. If I would have been successful, I would have had a try for new papers - but seriously I wouldn't have had hope to get them. If it had failed, I would have kept the blade as a healthy nice wakizashi as a gimei example or would have removed the mei and would have had another try. It happened in the past, that after removing the (gi)mei the blade was attributed to the smith the blade was signed before... Would have been an interesting project Why didn't it work? Because the previous owner didn't accept my offer (about 4000 USD - very generous for an expected gimei I think ;)) Since I have now answered this question, although the answer was obvious before, I want to see my commentary as what it is... just some thoughts on the sellers post
  7. This blade started it's journey some time ago on nihonto.com.au Has been listed several times on ebay... And has been sold for 8000 USD the last time... Was discussed repeatedly on the message board... All together: doubtful mei, not "typical" hamon, "old" papers... I would be interested in the attribution the N(B)THK would give if the mei is removed ;) Best
