  4. Hi, thanks for the link how do you control humidity and dust etc I had a cabinet built for my other military collectables ,sealing the cabinet unfortunately does not work for some strange reason it still gets dusty and mildew tends to form,I solved it by pumping filterd dehumidified air from the room that in was in ,into the cabinet ie positive air pressure stops dust coming back into the cabinet as long as I change the filter paper[I use cooker hood filter paper] it minimise's the dust problem and no mildew or rust ,only problem it wasn't made for swords and they are rather difficult to get out and non of the glass is wide enough to see them think it's time to build another. 16. Hi, Just read through all this fascinating thread didn't know about the existence of these swords, couple of questions on the line drawings of swords why do they only have a passing resemblance to the actual blade? they look completely different in photos I assume that there are no photos of this sword in existence. As the sword was unsigned is it possible that it was taken apart by the unknown soldier or another, had a gimme Mei put on to in theory increase its value and reassembled with another not so flamboyant set of fittings from another sword [mix and match] so as to make 2 swords one with a better blade the other with better fittings to increase the sale value of them or he my have not liked the fittings and swapped them accordingly, sorry if I sound a bit stupid on this subject. On the soldier is it possible that he was not American but was only attached to them sure plenty of soldiers were around at this time ,could have been a British soldier Sgt Cody William Moore ,William is always shortened to bill. 20. Hi, My first sword was obtained about 30 years ago it was obtained from a local junk shop ww2 mounts and combat cover well out of polish and was not a looker ,knew even less in those days than I do now think I made a mistake in getting rid of it as it had a flat mune something that I had no idea of at the time but something that I have not seen since did I part with something good I will never know, the next was a mid war example that I sold years ago. Mark
  21. Hi, Didn't think people were that interested in the fittings ,how do you tell quality from ordinary fittings. Mark
  22. Hi, Newbie here a slightly 58 year old collected Militaria fo approx 50 years mainly 3rd reich stuff got far too much these days so decided to sell things to fund my passion for the japanse sword which I have held since a kid spent 20 years dong Karate ,did get my first sword over 40 years ago knew even less than I do now ,think I made a mistake letting it go looking back as the mune was flat something I have never seen since.
