EN Iron tsuba, maru-gata, 77.5 × 77.5 × 4.5 mm (rim ~4.2). Openwork scene with pine branches (needles in kebori), cloud/mist bands above and water below. Round rim (maru-mimi). Copper sekigane at the nakago-ana. Forged, slightly textured plate with natural age. The set pine + cloud bands + water aligns with themes seen in Nagasaki work; fine kebori on needles and ribbon-like clouds are typical. The overall balance of negative space within the circular rim, with even plate thickness, is close to Kyō-sukashi, while the needle carving is crisper than in many Kyō pieces. Dark, tight iron with slender yet resilient webbing is consistent with early–mid Edo openwork. Attribution left open; cautiously comparable to Nagasaki and Kyō-sukashi, Edo period. DE Eiserne Tsuba, maru-gata, 77,5 × 77,5 × 4,5 mm (Rand ca. 4,2). Durchbruchmotiv mit Kieferzweigen (Nadeln in Kebori), Wolken-/Nebelbändern oben und Wasser unten. Runder Rand (maru-mimi). PL Tsuba żelazna, maru-gata, 77,5 × 77,5 × 4,5 mm (mimi ok. 4,2). Ażurowy motyw gałązek sosny (igły ryte kebori), pasy chmur/mgły u góry i woda u dołu. Maru-mimi. Miedziany sekigane przy nakago-ana. Płyta kuta, lekko chropawa, ze śladami wieku. * Zestaw sosna + pasy chmur + woda odpowiada repertuarowi prac Nagasaki; drobne kebori igieł i wstęgowe chmury są dla nich typowe. * Równowaga pustych pól w okrągłej ramie i równa grubość płyty zbliżają obiekt do Kyō-sukashi; rycie igieł jest tu wyraźniejsze niż w wielu przykładach Kyō. * Żelazo o ciemnej, zwartej powierzchni; cienkie, ale mocne mostki – cechy ażurowych prac wczesno-/środkowo-Edo. Atrybucja pozostaje otwarta; ostrożne porównanie do Nagasaki oraz Kyō-sukashi, okres Edo. T857283

Hello, Thank You for watching! Can anyone tell me what the sukashi pattern means and which school it belongs to? 1. The cutouts are probably Genji-mon. 2. The school is probably (Ko)-tosho?

Hello, I would like to ask for help in understanding what features will help me understand if this is Kanayama or Ko-shoami tsuba? Please note that I'm a beginner. I will be happy for any tip. Dimensions: mm: 76,5 x 76 x 5,0 (mimi: 5,7), Ts626391

Understand. This tsuba is free of similar stains as resin ect. Slight signs of red rust appeared quite quickly when I kept it on the wall.

Yes, you can see imperfect places. it is obvious. Maybe too obvious... I have to add that both of these tsuba were bought from different sellers in different cities (Japan). BTW I feel sorry for you buying a frankenstein tsuba, I understand that it was a big trauma for you since you still remember it and remember it today. Do you have a picture of your frankenstein for my photo collection ;). Let;s have fun!

Hello, For some time I have been focusing on iron tsuba, looking for items older than mid Edo. Here are a few of them. Your clues as to the school and the probable age of the individual objects will be helpful in my research. I will be able to confirm or revise my assumptions. I'm a beginner and I'm learning, please bear with me. Thanks a lot... 1. 2. 3. 4.

Hello, after a long break. I found some time to enjoy my hobbies. I dug up some interesting items and here is one of them. Due to my interests in the subject of tsukamaki, I am looking for various unusual items related to it. 2 or 3 years earlier, I came across a rather unusual set of fuchi kashira. Something very special in my opinion. At first glance, it's just fuchi kashira of suaka. In real, it was made of urushi and tonoko on copper base. Beautiful lacquered mon and stamps. Due to the low utility value, it was made to show skill or as a gift. Have you come across any other handle fittings of this type? Any hints? Happy Christmas.
