  2. 72 plate heavy Kabuto Edo period Thought to be Ichiguchi Myochin work Not sure if signed Would be interested in comments , the Tehen is a bit further back than normal and there is a noticeable bulge at the front. It's an usual number of plates. A period Mai Date. Many thanks to Nick Ricupero for selling this to me.

  5. Jussi , thanks. I can only imagine a great deal of blunt trauma ! Other than seeing them in woodblock prints I can't remember reading about units like Nagamaki groups being used tactically. If anyone has a good reference please point me to it.

Please excuse me if this is not the category for this but it's a Japanese weapon Kanabo -Samurai war club from the Yamagata region 153 cm 4.5 kilos Made from wood with an iron ring and the upper half covered in iron with studs. I would not want to be on the receiving end of this !!!!! This is early Edo or a little older . I have always wanted one of these. Many thanks to David Thatcher for selling this to me

A small Big gun Bore is 30 MM - heavy gun 78 cm long with a Satsuma Mon and relief of a Hawk I can't imagine shooting one of these or being on the receiving end of the projectile Also pictured is an Edo period ammo pouch with the Tokugawa Mon on the front and back.     This is room 2 of 3. Mostly storage for swords but a Saotome armor and a lot of Tetsubin and books. I'm doing an exhibition now at the North Carolina Museum of art ( the making of a warrior ) from Oct 19 2025 to Feb 2 2025. You can see images on line. A lot is missing because it's there. The curator picked what she wanted so skipped over many of the Kamakura jidai swords.
