  1. Thank you for the help.
  2. I found a papered sword online and was woundering what it was attributed to(The seller claims shizu kaneuji). Here's a picture of the paper
  3. I don't even plan on bidding on this. Also the 13m yen is apperently the buy it now price.
  4. Fair enough, I'm just going to save up for a good blade. Also do you have a link on the guy, it sounds interesting and I want to know what to look for.
  5. Admittedly, I am skeptical of the listing. Mostly due to the lack of papers or proof of the supposed story. I just posted it because thought the sword looked interesting.
  6. Heres a close up picture of what I assume is the signature of the appraiser( anyone is free to translate if they want)
  7. Heres a few more pictures
  8. I like to look through yahoo auctions Japan via jauce for fun and found something interesting. The sword is a supposed masamune. It is not papered but does have a shumei, though I don't know who attributed it(I can't read Japanese). The seller claims that the current owners ancestors passed it down as a "masamune" and that it ended up overseas after ww2 going through multiple hands before ending up in the current owners hands. Now whether or not this story is true I cant say, however the sword does look nice. Its also way outside of my price range. Heres a link for anyone who might care: https://www.jauce.com/auction/b1114453731 Also heres a few pictures;
  9. Just one more thing to mention they also ask for your shipping address for customs purposes before they allow you to bid. Though they with were fine with just the state I was in and I imagine just specifying the country you are in would be enough too.
  10. Fair enough. I actually do plan on buying The Connoisseur's Book of Japanese Swords.
  11. Jauce does. You just need to agree to pay a 20,000 yen fee.
  12. Yes, I've read those articles. Which is why I am treating this sword as being paperless. I was hoping to learn more about the sword itself( era and/or school), as my kantei skills are practically nonexistant and I don't want to accidentally spend more than I should on this.
  13. I found a sword that has caught my eye and a currently debating on whether or not I should try to bid on it. The main thing that caught my eye was the fittings, but I want some help learning about the blade itself before I bid. All I know is that it is a mumei sword with tokubestu kicho papers attributed to masamune( so in practical terms a paperless mumei blade). The main things I hope to learn are era and hopefully school of it. Here are some pictures edit: here's a link: https://www.jauce.com/auction/t1124851065
  14. Thank you for the help.
  15. I found a sword online with a paper type I have not seen. Cursory research into different papers from both the nthk and nbthk don't show an exact match. Does anyone know what this is
  16. Thank you for the tip. I think I'll wait until a papered Nanbokucho Soshu pops up at my price range.
  17. Sorry. I didn't know if a more dedicated discussion on the swords age should been part of that thread or a more dedicated one. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have made this thread.
  18. I have had a goal of getting a nanbokucho soshu work if I can. Its part of the reason why age is important to me.
  19. It is paperless. The owner says its Sa. The seller gave no real proof other than the signature.
  20. There a tanto that currently has my eye. I would like some help figuring out its age if possible. Here are the pictures.
  21. I mostly want it for the blade. Also out of curiosity do have any idea what era it might be if possible?
  22. Here are some additional images
  23. I found this sword online and wonder if it would be worth getting? Also what should I spend for it? Note it is not papered.
  24. Thank you for the help.
