It is paperless. The owner says its Sa. The seller gave no real proof other than the signature.

There a tanto that currently has my eye. I would like some help figuring out its age if possible. Here are the pictures.

I found this sword online and wonder if it would be worth getting? Also what should I spend for it? Note it is not papered.

Thank you for the help.

I found a listing for a sword with this kicho paper. I am curious about the smith it is attributed to, but the page only uses machine translation(it translates the smith as jusuke) which is of no help. Can anyone tell me what the attribution says?

Apologies for the quality of the photos as they were taken via phone. As the title asks, does anyone know what these sparkly patches are? They are found throughout the jihada. Are they possibly ji nie?

Once again thank you for the info. That at least gives me some hope.

According to this article here http://nihonto-museu...blog/soshu-tsunahiro apperently the first generation Soshu Tsunahiro signed like that minus the 作 at the end.

Thank you for the help. I take the sword is likely a gimei?

Here is a link to where I bought it from https://www.jauce.com/auction/x1122072219 . I do plan on submitting it for shinsa when I have the chance.

Interesting. It was being sold as being a late nanbokucho sword.

Fair enough. I mostly bought it because I like how it looked. I do know at least what the signature said which was sagami kuni junin masahiro saku. But other than that as a relative newbie(This is my second sword) I have very little knowledge on how to identify swords.

I recently bought a new wakizashi and would like some help identifying it(Or at the very least a clue). Since I am currently waiting for it to ship out of Japan I only have the pictures from the seller.

Okay. Once again thank you for the info.

Thank you for the info. Also one more question. Would it be a bad idea to get such a blade polished?

I found this tanto online and find the shape odd. Is this this shape found in other tanto or was it just a the result of a flaw in the forging process?

I recently found something that somewhat confuses me. For a while I always thought Masamune was held as the greatest Japanese swordsmith and thus the Nihon sansaku, but according to yuhindo the best of the Nihon sansaku is toshiro yoshimitsu. I have been having trouble finding the source of the claim, which is apparently the nbthk's token bijutsu, as I can't find an archive. So is yoshimitsu held in higher regard than Masamune? https://yuhindo.com/awataguchi-yoshimitsu/
