Thank you guys! Now for my research on the smith: I have yet to narrow down which Kaneyoshi made this, as I have seen up to 6 different smiths by that name operating at the time. I can provide more pictures of the sword if needed.

Hello! I would like some assistance translating the tang of a family heirloom katana. It was supposedly taken during WWII by my grandfather and has been in the family since. I attempted an amateur translation based off of some common kanji smith names and province names: 濃州住人゛河合兼義鍛之 - Nōshū-jū (hito?) Kawai Kaneyoshi kitau kore - This was forged by Kawai Kaneyoshi of Nōshū. I would like to know if this is in any way correct; thank you ahead of time for any help!
