Hi Mark, I would concur with the gentleman above... also something about the hamon's straightening at the base of the blade on one side only seems a bit off to me. The koshirae is nothing special either. IMHO, there are better deals to be had. Paul W

Hi Paul, This tsukka and menuki are strikingly similar to those of a turn of the last century naval dirk. Certain western-patterned naval command sabres also sport similar gold coiled over white same.. My guess is that this belonged to a retired naval officer. Paul W
