  1. I don't post often here, please forgive me if I am putting this in the wrong section. I am looking for info on the maker of this sword. The info I have says it is Masatoshi estimated date 1628. I am having trouble finding much of anything other than a few obscure foot notes. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
  2. I was wondering if there are any historic examples of a blade using both naginata-hi and futasuji-bi? If you know of any examples can you provide a link to a photo? I ask because a short while ago I was sent a review sample from a Chinese production company. They offer both styles of hi and asked them to combine them on one blade. Initially I did it because I wanted to examine how they produce the two different styles but in the back of my mind, I thought I had seen it on a few antiques in the past. I went to have a look today and I am unable to find a single example. I have included a photo of the mass production sword so you can get an idea of what I am asking. I know the "everything" is far from perfect and it would be helpful to find a better example to explain why. Thanks for your help.
  3. I picked up this blade recently. It does not have a stamp on it and I could use help with the signature. Any other info would also be appreciated.
  4. I have a question on three wakizashi.. I don't know what the mei says or have any info on them. Anything you can provide would be appreciated. First.. This is from a O-wakizashi (more photos here) Second.. This is a wakizashi I picked up on a little while ago for the fittings (more photos here) Third.. This has no signature. It has a lot of interesting detail but nothing to go on for signature.. (more photos here) Please let me know if you have any information. Thanks for your time.
  5. This one is not from Komonjo, its from another ebay seller but they look very similar. I do have a blade from Komonjo though. (Click for Photos) Maybe someone can tell me about that one too. I am guessing it is fake but that's what I deserve for buying it without thinking. It is getting mounted now and looks something like this now. It should be done in the not too distant future and my plan is to sell it. (probably.. I might like it)
  6. Thanks for the help! 忠善作 Tadayoshi saku would be a really good find but I am guessing it is gimei. It looks like a shinsakuto of modern construction. I got it for a good deal so I can't complain even if it is gimei. It will work well for an iai blade. Anyway, I had hoped it was a lower end gendito but I think I am out of luck there. I'll post better photos when I get a chance to take some. I appreciate the help. This is one of my first posts here and I feel welcome. Cheers,
  7. Anyone have any idea what the signature is on this nakago? I got a shinsakuto on ebay not too long ago and I am looking for more info on it. Maybe I got a shin-not-kool-yo?
