I can feel a slight difference slightly beyond the yokote where is appears to slant down into the kissaki . I guess it is very subtle

Hello How can one tell if the Yokote is cosmetic or just worn down? I have a o-kissaki and the I cannot detect any change in geometry. Was it common to apply a cosmetic yokote with the o-kissaki shape?The katana is from the 1850’s.

Hello, I understand kits ware is crack of sorts. Does this mean you can feel the flaw on the sword? I cannot tell my sword has this or it’s just part of the welding pattern.

Thanks Ken it’s actually my 6th blade but they are NBTHK certified aside from a tanto that has some verifiable history. This is my first blade that has no papers of any kind and clearly I have no idea what I am doing! This is my 2nd Katana to date

Hello All, Well I took the plunge again and purchased a Bingo Miyoshi Ju (living in Miyoshi in Bingo) Tamura Masayuki O-kissaki Katana. Seems to be in good condition opinions are welcome Measurements are as follows: Blade length:65.7cm/ 25.86 inches Curvature: 1.4cm / 0.55 inches Total length: 93.0cm/ 36.61 inches Blade Weight: 745.0g Total Weight: 1067.0g
