Yes Guido. Wikipedia says exactly the same thing. More likely to attack 'chinks' in the armor such as the armpit.
Fun learning about the pitfalls and traps of nihonto collecting.
I stumbled across this item on ebay and wasn't familiar with it, a Kabuto wari or hachiwara. The Koshirae are certainly interesting. I'm curious if these have collector interest or if they're a niche item. Just educating myself. Thanks.

I was following this Tsuba and was unsure if the name was a fake or not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/380953042752?ss ... 1423.l2649
If real, I missed a good one. I went and played golf and didn't bid. So, the name on the tsuba is very sharply inscribed which made me think it might be not original. What are your thoughts?
Thanks, Jim

Can you translate the inscription on this kogatana please? I got it with the kozuka a while back with the intent of incorporation it into the saya on a wakizashi project. Thanks, Jim
Hi all, new here. I've collected antique and collectible firearms for many years and have traveled to Japan on business and when my wife was mayor to visit our sister city in Japan. I've had a number of US made swords and other blades from around the world, but am now focused on nihonto, but am just a beginner (at 68). I'll be reading and learning. Thanks, Jim
