  1. Since I am no expert in this topic, I would like to get some opinions from more experienced collectors, I`m interested in age and school of this wakizashi. I know that tsuka is a mess but this can be fixed.
  2. I would like to get some opinions about age and school of these tiger/leopard menuki, I like the design and I think it is late Edo, but I`m not an expert.
  3. Squirrel and vine is it really a word pun? https://collections.artsmia.org/art/6609/grapevine-and-squirrels-unknown-Japanese
  4. I would like to ask users of NMB, what do You think is this animal below grapes?
  5. Which areas are suspicious?
  6. Looking for opinions about this iron tsuba water wheel tsuba, size is about 68mm. How old is it?
  7. What do You think about second one?
  8. There is exactly 9cm from hole to hole on nakago so basically nagasa was about 64,5cm long Is it possible to read the only one kanji on nakago?
  9. I am afraid that You are right, those mons look like exact copies.
  10. Any thoughts about these two? Age and style/school? There is a mei on first one with Tokugawa mon, but I can`t read it I would like to know something more from experienced collectors on NMB.
  11. One of my most recent acquisition by Namitoshi
  12. I found these two for sale and would like to get some opinions about it. First one 80mm x 77mm x 5mm, signed Second one 83mm x 75mm x 4,5mm
  13. I would like to get some opinions about this sword from experienced collectors on NMB. Total length is 88 cm Saya 65,5cm, Tsuka 21,5cm Blade 55,5 cm from kissaki to tsuba. Nakago looks like has been shortened and redrilled. Was it a katana before? Is it a common practice? What was the purpose? Some king of damage? Polish doesn`t look like it was done recently. I am curious about this sword, what is the value of this kind of wakizashi? How old it could be? Click twice on picture for better resolution.

    Another one...

I`ve got another one for ID, this time with mei Anyone can read this?
  15. I am looking for information about age and origin of these two tsubas. Both are made of iron, first one is 75mm x 75mm and 3mm thickness and second one is 84mm x 79mm and 4mm thickness. Second one:
  16. Finally I have decided to buy this wakizashi. Here are more photos of blade itself, any opinions about age and origin of sword are greatly appreciated. You can click on photo and then click again to see bigger size picture.
  17. Cost of recreating tsuka, saya etc. is not a problem because I am not going to do it. Rather leave it as it is right know. Just want to buy this for educational purposes, I want to learn more and not spend great amount of money on it. Can anyone estimate how old is it?
  18. I am aware that the sword is in rather bad shape but it costs about 100 USD so maybe this deal is not that bad.
  19. Recently I found for sale this old wakizashi that looks legit to me but I`m not an expert. Sword length is 51cm. I am looking for opinions about age of this sword and authenticity.
  20. Is it normal that the sword is only 35,8" (91cm) long overall? Nagasa: 25" (63,5cm) Tsuka: 10,5" (27cm) Nakago: 8" (20,7cm) Sword Weight: 2,53 lb (1150g)
  21. So you think that blade is rather forged from railroad steel and not folded?
  22. Since I don`t own the sword yet I don`t have better pics, but I can post closeups from better resolution pictures. IMO from what I see on the photos the sword is made from folded steel, but I might be wrong.
