Hi,

I have a late WWII Japanese sword I was wondering if anyone could give me info on the writing on the tang? Does it look genuine? Any idea of translation?

Thanks

It's a genuine WWII showa-to with Seki stamp. The kanji are too corroded to read but as I recall this smith was the topic of a thread here recently- Goto something.....

As Chris says...this is Goto something....I think Goto Kane....

There were 3 Seki Gunto Kaji named Goto. One used the name Kanemitsu, one used Kanehiro (both from 1939 on) and one used Kanenari (1941 on).

I can't really read kanji number 4 (hiro?) so can't help much more.

Regards,
