tokashikibob Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Gents, Some pictures of the inside of this snapped tanto showing the two part construction. I'm guessing it was snapped during the occupation in accordance with the weapons disposal order. It looks like it was a very beautiful piece back in the day, maybe the G.I. could not let it go to the smelter even in two pieces. Semper Fi, Bob Quote
Jean Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Hi Marine, Could you please resize the pics so that they appear directly on the screen instead of links. Thanks in advance :D Quote
ROKUJURO Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 .....Some pictures of the inside of this snapped tanto showing the two part construction...... Inspite of the bad photos it looks like a KOBUSE SAN MAI TANTO to me. Destroying handmade blades is always a sad loss! Please do not throw the pieces away, they can always serve as material for research. One could even forge a new blade from it! Quote
cabowen Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 I believe kobuse and san mai are two distinct styles of construction??? Quote
