Viper6924 Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 Hi! I got this tsuba for free from a friend who knows I´m into Japanese weapons. Not the most beautiful tsuba. Flower motif with a two kanji mei. I translate it to Nobu-Naga? Correct? Any other info is an added bonus. Thanks a lot! Jan Quote
Viper6924 Posted August 21, 2011 Author Report Posted August 21, 2011 Thanks for your quick answer, Guido!!! This Nobuie seems to be an intresting name. Can this be a orignal tsuba from this artist. Sounds to crazy!!! Perhaps I need to buy my friend 1 or perhaps 2 beers for it /Jan Quote
Guido Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 It's always a good idea to buy a friend a beer or two but I think we can safely assume that this Tsuba isn't made by the first or second generation Nobuie . Quote
Viper6924 Posted August 21, 2011 Author Report Posted August 21, 2011 Let´s make it the third generation, and I buy my friend three beers. Sounds fair Thanks Guido! /Jan Quote
Soshin Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 Let´s make it the third generation, and I buy my friend three beers. Sounds fair Thanks Guido! /Jan Hi Jan, The tsuba looks to me to be a late Edo Period Nobuie copy. I would likely go on to say that the tsuba might have been made right after publication of some Nobuie tsuba oshigata during the late Edo Period. With that said it is a real antique Japanese tsuba. I hope you find the information helpful. Go ahead buy your friend a drink. Yours truly, David Stiles Quote
