rudall Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 I would much appreciate assistance with this mei on a sword that has WW2 mountings and in fact came from the Philippines at the end of the war. As far as I can see, the tang reads: Fujiwara Yoshisada kore saku Is that right? If so, could ayone give me information about this smith? Many thanks. Andrew Quote
rudall Posted June 2, 2011 Author Report Posted June 2, 2011 Thank you for that confirmation. Is that a different Yoshisada from the one referenced here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7517&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=yoshisada The 'writing' certainly looks different. Andrew Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Thank you for that confirmation. Is that a different Yoshisada from the one referenced here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7517&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=yoshisada The 'writing' certainly looks different. Andrew Unless someone pulls me up short, I would say that is definitely a different Yoshisada. Quote
rudall Posted June 9, 2011 Author Report Posted June 9, 2011 From my position of complete ignorance, that's what I assumed. Does anyone have any information about this Yoshisada? Would it help if I posted photos of the entire sword and blade? Thank you Andrew Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Andrew, my books only deal with 'old' smiths. There is a 'Shinto' (?) Yoshisada with those Kanji in the Toko Soran, p.723 but he is 宮野義定 Meiji 34 (国不明) Quote
rudall Posted June 9, 2011 Author Report Posted June 9, 2011 Thank you anyway. Perhaps someone with more infomation about 'new' smiths will be able to help. Andrew Quote
