Dropping in separate thread. I see this for some time. Mon looks like pigeon? I can't find it anywhere.

Blade was "DIY refreshed" or is it fake?

Would be nice to find example with fake mon.

The scabbard looks like it has been painted silver. Likely done because the finish on nickel and chrome plated scabbards are prone to damage. Aside from that, the sword looks genuine to me. Mon are far more common on dress swords than Type 94/98, so the presence of one would not automatically cause concerns of authenticity.

Away from my books right now, but like Marcin above I spent some time searching the Japanese web and found some possibly related Mon/Kamon, but no exact matches.

Sometimes ‘family crests’ were created in the post-Edo period during the proud era of militarism.
