DragonK Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 I originally posted a sword in the military swords of Japan because it was in ww2 shin gunto mounts. The general belief that the blade was older and that i might be able to get more information about its age (and anything else) if I put some photos and measurements here. Nakago 7 3/4 inches Nagaga 25 5/8 inches Kissaki 1 1/8 inches Sori 1/2 inches Hamon gunome Hada appears ayasugi to me but less confident about this one Mei bizen (no) kuni kiyonori but told probably gimei Quote
2devnul Posted Wednesday at 01:26 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:26 PM I would say Shinto sword with Suriage Nakago. Gunome Hamon as you stated. Can't see Hada on pictures. Omaru Boshi. Sori doesn't look like Bizen-sori to me, but that could be due to the pictures. Only Bizen no kuni Kiyonori that I know about was active during Eikyo era (1429–1441). That sword isn't what I expect to be from that era, so probably Gimei. 1 Quote
Lewis B Posted Wednesday at 01:38 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:38 PM (edited) If the mekugi-ana are drilled which seems to be the case that would suggest Edo period blade (1603-1867) Edited Wednesday at 01:39 PM by Lewis B Quote
