Battara Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 I am looking at a kai gunto without anything on the nagado. Should all kai guntos have a stamp of some kind, or can a blade tang not have anything on it and still be legit? Thanks in advance. Jose Quote
John C Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 20 minutes ago, Battara said: kai gunto Hello Jose: In general, kai gunto (referring to naval mounts) can have different kinds of blades. Some are a type of rust-free steel (anchor stamp), some are known as KJT (traditionally made swords), some use old family blades. I have also seen kai gunto with seki blades. So the direct answer to your question is no - not all have the anchor stamp on them. John C. 1 Quote
Battara Posted March 28 Author Report Posted March 28 Good point. I forgot about gendaito and family blades. I assume that this also applies to shin gunto blades as well. Many thanks. Jose Quote
