Samurai Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 This Tsuba has the shape of the seppa's from the WWII Shin Gunto The Nakago-ana is a bit small. I assume for a Tanto. Signature: Masatsugu But I was wondering if this was something unusual, because I've never seen one like this before. Are there any pictures of Japanese Swords with these Tsuba's? Quote
ROKUJURO Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 "SAMURAI", with the sharp edges, this looks more like an individually made SEPPA (no plural!) to me than like a TSUBA (no plural - Japanese nouns do not have a plural form). Please sign all posts with at least a first name plus an initial so we could address you politely. This is a rule here on NMB. 1 Quote
Samurai Posted March 8 Author Report Posted March 8 This is 100% a Tsuba because it's thick & heavy for it to be a seppa. - Samurai. Quote
Spartancrest Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 The guard looks very similar to a type of gunto guard with the rim removed - except that the majority of these have a locking hole - the guard in question may have been given a "texture" recently if it was in fact a WWII altered piece but the colour is not what you would expect either. Could you give us some dimensions for this piece? 6 1 Quote
