Rikkn Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 I was offered these today. Really interesting looking but I don't know enough about them to commit. Pictures might be a little jumbled, but would appreciate some comments ! 1 Quote
Rikkn Posted November 12, 2025 Author Report Posted November 12, 2025 Trouble posting pics, one at a time I guess. Quote
Rikkn Posted November 12, 2025 Author Report Posted November 12, 2025 By the way, there are 4 with scabbards, and one blade only. The one pic with Kanji is the blade only, the other is the little knife that goes to one of the others. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 Just a personal thing but I would focus only on the one with brown handle, and in that only for the blade (perhaps the guard [tsuba] might be mildly interesting too, depending on several factors). That is the only sword that seems interesting to me but to be said I am extremely narrow focused person and my view is not the normal view. I feel as a more general view the lot can be bit interesting with a lot of variety, of course lots of things will depend on the asking price. 1 Quote
Rivkin Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 Anything stellar? More likely not rather than yes. But I would also consider second from the left. It has a certain cool factor to it. Quote
Rikkn Posted November 12, 2025 Author Report Posted November 12, 2025 He is asking 800 each, I can probably buy them all for 500 each. Is it worth it ? Quote
Rivkin Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 Its a bit like buying something inside a big black bag, but I would say yes even at 800 there is some potential. At 500 the chances of this being a bad deal are not too significant. I personally would be interested in looking at better pictures if you buy them... Quote

This is a magic question everyone asks each time they buy/sold a sword For me these swords are no-no, because: - polish is bad - condition unknown, will revel after polish - Koshirae needs renovation, seems not to match (guess based just on photos) same theme for Fuchi/Kashira - For 500-1000$ you could buy something in better out-of-the-box condition from Japan This is just my private opinion as I have a very specific key for swords in my collection. I always like to have "pristine" (or close to it) look of the sword. This means perfect condition, polish, Koshirae. Even for a 300-500 years old swords. However, I know there are collectors that value 'original' condition more. With old polish and Koshirae, even if it is falling apart. Still, IMHO if you buy them for 500$ then you should be able to resell them for same (maybe more?) price. So maybe worth risking. 1 Quote
