Bruce Pennington Posted October 31, 2025 Report Posted October 31, 2025 Chino, You might already know, but the small stamp at top, Showa stamp, was an inspector stamp of the civilian Seki Cutlery Manufacturers Association. They tend to be really nicely made. The date range is 1935 - 1942, with most dated blades found 1940-1941. Could you post a shot of the full rig showing the fittings? 1 1 Quote
Chino Posted November 20, 2025 Author Report Posted November 20, 2025 Thank you both for the information. Sorry my reply took so long. I will post more pics of the blade and fittings later today. Does the Showa stamp indicates this was a manufactured blade, not hand made by Hidetoshi? Quote
mecox Posted November 20, 2025 Report Posted November 20, 2025 @chino Steve, as noted by Bruce, early war and probably made by Hidetoshi but not using tamahagane iron and is oil quenched. There are examples and context in paper in NMB Downloads (top of page) 1 1 Quote
