Alans Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 Hi there , I’m ashamed to say after being a member for several years - this may be my very first post! Anyhow … does anyone know where I can get a good quality sword bag(s) especially if available in the UK . I’m particularly interested in them being padded and lined as not to cause damage to the fittings and the Koshirae Best regards Alan Quote

Matsunoki Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 How many do you want and do you come to the Birmingham Arms Fair? Quote
Tohagi Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 I saw lately a lot of nice silk bags made from Japanese obbi (traditionnel silk belts) not very expensive and handmade in Japan... IMO avoïd chinese synthetic silk because they are not thick enough. Brocard heavy silk is the better for koshirae protection... Best regards, Eric 1 Quote
Alans Posted May 20 Author Report Posted May 20 Thanks everyone… RAWA - I had a look at the sword bags on offer in the USA … I think they look a bit tired - but thanks for the link . Tohagi - thanks for the info regarding brocade . Colin , I’m after just two for now for a Katana and a Waki .. yes - I do go the the BMA , it’s seems a shame no one in the UK makes them ( seems to be a market for them . ) Alan Quote

Natichu Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 Not in the UK, but I have had Touken Komachi make a couple sword bags for me for a wakizashi in shirasaya and for an iaito. Might be worth shooting them an email. Information in Japanese here: https://www.toukenkomachi.com/index_ja_okatanabukuro.html 2 Quote
