I have owned this blade for a while now and apart from the fact that I like it and it is an impressive blade in the hand, I know very little about it. I was wondering if perhaps some of the knowledgeable collectors on this forum may be able to cast some light into the darkness of my ignorance. Some idea of school, age etc. would be a great help. Any info will be much appreciated. :D

Basic info as follows:

Nakago Mumei Ubu (looks much darker than on the pics).

Nagasa:14.3"(36.3cm)

Length: 19.3"(49cm)

Sori: 0.7"(1.7cm)

Motohaba: 1.2"(3.1cm)

Hi Keith!

I'm no expert at all and having troubles with my computer so I can't

make the pictures bigger for the moment.

I wonder about the Yasurime, is it Higaki?

If so, perhaps a Mino or Naminohira blade.

I also wonder the about the possibility of a Ko Wakizashi?

Best regards, John

Time to correct myself here.... Ko wakizashi is probably more accurate than O tanto, although in the hand it is more like an O tanto because of the blade proportion and style. I had provisionally attributed this to Mino school although I was unsure.

The Hada which I had forgotten to mention previously is Itame.

The Hamon is Gunome. Almost identical on both sides.

Yasurime are indistinct in many places on the nakago but appear to be katte sagari.

My apologies for the lack of info in the original post, but It was made very late at night and with some considerable trouble in downloading the attachments. (My fault... Lack of practice and sleep).
