I've been away for a while chasing medical assistance as you do at my age.

 

I have quite a nice Tanto that I am planning on selling before it is that time, and my family are not interested, anyway, enough of that.

 

I'm asking for a bit of assistance please in determining the Kanji on the blade which I suspect has been placed there to cover a forging floor

This looks like a kind of Sanskrit Bonji, Chris; every so often someone puts up a chart of the basic characters that were added to arms for talismanic protection. You may be right about covering or removing something unwanted.
