katonk66
Hello again. Here is a other nihontou from Japan that I purchased. Definitely not as fancy as the tanto I bought, and not the best "diamonds" on the tsuka...but it is a handachi! (One of my favorite koshirae, regardless if modern or antique)
katonk66
Any ideas on the age of the blade. Rough guess, Shin-shinto/Edo?
jesup
Unusual collection of mekugi-ana, given the nakago looks ubu. Perhaps extra for test-cutting in some old mountings? I'd say not shinshinto; very likely Edo, and not kanbun-shinto. Maybe mid-late shinto. (for whatever *my* opinion is worth :-)
