I just picked this up and was looking to get some history on it(if any). The more I look into it the more I think it's fake. Someone prove me wrong.

Stephen is right: the pic of the "Mei" alone is sufficient to identify it as a Chinese fake.

Everything, it's chinese.

 

You can bring up the blade, the mei, the yasurime, the fittings, the ito on the tsuka, and many many more.

 

I hope everything turns out well for you in the end.

Thanks for the help guys. I brought it back to the guy and got a full refund. He was very nice about it and seemed to have no idea about it being fake. My search continues for a Japanese sword, only this time Ill do more research before I buy.
