sisounek Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Hi Again, I also think this is Kanefusa and from my research I found it similar, however the three small triangles on original tang faces different direction as on of the pics, however the first one is NBTHK Hozon (Naginata), Second NBTHT Tokubetsu (Katana) (3 triangles on signature facas different direction) and mine on 3rd (wakizashi) Is mine gimei as well as the first pic (NBTHK Hozon?) thank you Mike S Quote
Jean Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Mike, Kanefusa is a Seki smith lineage, meaning there were a lot of smiths by this name, not unlike Seki Jumyo, Kanemoto .... or Bizen Sukesada, Tadamitsu ..... so if you don't know the generation in the lineage, it can be hard for us westerners to say anything on the mei Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 hi, Jean, is correct, there are many, many, sword smiths signing with the 2 character mei, Kanefusa. Which makes it essential to use kantei (along with a good library), in an attempt to narrow down the possibilities of which Kanefusa might have made this sword. The sword confirms the signature, and not the other way around. There is a good chance that even if your sword was not made by a rated smith, that it is still genuine. Quote
