TheGermanBastard Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 I'm seeking some information / Pricing on this lacquer box please. I suspect it is about Meiji periode. Came with some Tsuba some time ago and I have no knowledge on this stuff. Thank you Quote
Frank B Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 It looks like a later Meiji period export piece Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Some damage, no key? I agree with Frank. Apart from any sentimental value it might have, Luis, this is not worth much on the open market. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 How much do you think is not much? 50 USD? Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 You want to sell it as is? I really don't know. Is this a start price on eBay, or a store price, or a sale to an individual? Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 Thank you. Yesm I want to make it go away but have no clue on this stuff. I was expecting it to be worth somewhere between 40 and 120 USD ... not my cup of tea. Quote
Tanto54 Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Hi Luis, Because of the hinges and lock, I think this is Taisho or later and made for export (more collectible, antique, Japanese lacquer boxes don't have hinges or locks...) Sorry to bring bad news, but I've seen things like this go for $5 - $50 over the years on ebay. A secondhand store would probably list it around $30 - $50. I think that you would be very fortunate to get $50 for it... Quote
