Jacques Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Hi, The mei reads Kashu no ju Fujiwara Iyehiro saku. Quote
Guest nickn Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 thanks jacques do you have any information on this smith? do you think the mei is genuine? nick Quote
Jacques Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Hi, He is rated chujo by Fujishiro and he is Ryôwazamono. Worths 250 man in the Toko taikan. I've only one example of his signature (it is the same blade in both books), but the style of engraving looks different and the nakago jiri doesn't match. Quote
takakage Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Hello, there are many iyehiro in kaga ......... i have seen only a short katana of this lovely darani shinto smith with a nice koshirae and the nakago was little différent kuri jiri not ha agari kuri jiri, chisel strokes mismatch.......it could be an aother dai......... Guest nickn Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 would a photo of the blades very distinct hamon help identify the smith? Quote
Guest nickn Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 the hamon is large tad pole choji in nei turning to suguha for the last 4" of the monouchi Quote
Guest nickn Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 sorry about the terrible photos Quote
Jacques Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Hi, Hard to tell something, it is said that Iyehiro made mainly suguha, also that his work resembles that of Harima Kiyomitsu (whom also made gunome midare) , and i've not found some work of him matching with yours. Quote
takakage Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Hello, i don't know which iyehiro your mei can match but after looking some books, your nakago and the hamon can match to a shinto darani sword. Quote
Guest nickn Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 i have a hariman kiyomitsu katana which has i suguha hamon and a much greater sori then the iyehiro Quote
Guest nickn Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 HARIMA I also have a very similar sword with the mei kiyo mitsu was harima kiyomitsu known to sign this way? Quote
