Hi all,

This is out of my league, I got this from a deceased relative. Ive been trying to work out what it is and think I have made progress. Just looking for some confirmation and if someone is willing perhaps even a ballpark value? Its of no emotional significance to anyone in the family so in the classic 'keep it as a curio or sell it?' conundrum.

Pictures attached, but what I think, from very uninformed research is:

Stock standard Naval officers dirk - of the 'modified 1883 pattern' (Based on Military sword of Japan book)

The stamp I think is the somewhat eroded mark of 'Suya Sho Ten'? (Based on sticky here)

Nothing of not about, machine made blade etc - probably ww2??

Condition is what it is...

Is this right? Is there anything else that's worth knowing (or not?) about it?

Thanks in advance for helping out :)
