O-Midare Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 Good Day, I was wondering about this little tosogu book I have, was told it is from 1797 or 98..my question is...is this a book on the work of one artist or a school? Or maybe just in general. Thank you for any info. 1 Quote
Japan2112 Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 The motifs look to varied (and some even fantastic) to be of a single school. That is all I am able to contribute, 1 Quote
O-Midare Posted October 30, 2019 Author Report Posted October 30, 2019 Thank You for your reply Mark, very much appreciated. I was leaning towards different schools of a general sort but as I know little to nothing about tosogu I thought this was the place to ask. You are probably correct in your contribution, as the styles to my untrained eye seem to vary. Quote
Ford Hallam Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 The cover doesn't look familiar but the material presented looks to be like that of the Soken Kisho, a late 18th century sword fanciers handbook. 1 Quote
Tanto54 Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 Not the Soken Kisho - instead it's the Kokon Wakan Banpo Zensho Vol. 13. 3 Quote
O-Midare Posted October 31, 2019 Author Report Posted October 31, 2019 Thank You Ford and George. Picked it up cheap on eBay a while back, I liked it and the pictures of the subject matter. It's good to know what it is. The knowledge of the members on the NMB if phenomenal. Much appreciated for your time. Quote
