Martin Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Hi all, may I kindly ask for your translation assistance for the below text? thanks & all the best, Quote
Guido Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Looks like "Katchu-shi Kiku-gata iron Tsuba". Quote
Martin Posted May 22, 2008 Author Report Posted May 22, 2008 Hey Guido, many thanks! Great information. It looks like it may indeed was a description for the Tsuba stored in it (http://www.nihontokanjipages.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=168). Although the seller told me it had nothing to to with this particular piece. What do you think? best, Quote
Guido Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Well, it's Kikugata and iron, that's two out of three. Is it Katchu-shi? I have to admit that I'm just recently scratching the surface of the collecting field of Tsuba - so take everything I'm saying with not just a grain but plenty of salt - but I think it's possible, although it doesn't have the trademark Dotte-mimi. In any case, even if it's Saotome, it's basically Katchu-shi since Saotome is a branch of the Myo´chin who also were famous armor makers. The Hakogaki might not be 100% correct, but kind of close enough :D. Quote
